A math club at Thurston Elementary, run by parent volunteers. Our goal is simple: we want every child to enjoy math and feel good about it.
Wednesday, October 14, 6:00–7:00 pm, on Zoom. Hear how the club will work and share your ideas.
Fill out the form, one for each child. Kids of every level are welcome.
Meetings start October 21. See the calendar for all the dates.
Each table needs a parent coach. We give you the problems, hints, and answers, so you can focus on the kids.
Can’t come every week? You can still be a back-up coach.
Kids sit at a table with others in their grade, with the same parent coach every week. Here’s what a typical hour looks like:
A quick practice of the basics for their grade.
Problems that stretch a little further. Kids go at their own pace.
Time to move around, chat, and play.
About five contest problems, picked for the table. Kids try each one, then the table talks it through.
Coaches can change this to fit their table. Read more about how we teach.
Kids who want an extra challenge can take the contest at Thurston on March 18, 2027. In 2026, five of our kids placed in the national top 20 for their grade. More about the contest
